Artemisa Perucho-Green

Artemisa Perucho-Green is in her 14th year as a Dual Language classroom teacher. She became a National Board Certified Teacher in 2017, driven by the desire to reflect upon and fine-tune her teaching practice to better serve her students. As someone who thought herself “bad at math” growing up, she is relentless in her efforts to provide an environment where all students see the value of math in their lives, reflect upon their growth as mathematicians, and collaboratively build lessons and discourse around their own inquiries and interests.
 
Artemisa graduated from UC San Diego in 2005 and obtained her M.Ed. from UCSD’s Department of Education Studies in 2006. She currently teaches first grade in a Dual Language classroom at Valley Elementary School in Poway Unified. She is an Early Childhood National Board Certified Teacher and is a teacher leader through UCSD’s California Reading and Literature Project. She has co-presented on vertical lesson study at the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics’ Annual Meeting. She was also part of UCSD’s Center for Research on Educational Equity, Assessment and Teaching Excellence #USvsHate San Diego pilot group in 2018-19, before its transition to Teaching Tolerance on a nationwide scale, and has spoken at events around San Diego.
