Jennifer Carr

Math Consultant

Math Instructional Coach, San Marcos USD

Jennifer Carr is in her 9th year as an educator.  Her passion lies in designing equitable, inquiry-based mathematical experiences that elicit sense making, curiosity, and a positive disposition towards math in all students. She is particularly interested in the role that social emotional learning curriculum plays in the development of students’ disposition towards math and identities as learners of math.
 
Jenn is currently a math instructional coach at an International Baccalaureate K-8 school in the San Marcos Unified School District.  She has also served as an elementary classroom teacher, teacher on special assignment for elementary mathematics, and mathematics intervention specialist.  She is an experienced math professional learning facilitator and has been a speaker at the UC San Diego Teaching and Learning Conference (2016 and 2018). She is an active member of the San Diego County Office of Education K-8 Math Leaders Network and SoCal Math Specialist Network, and she serves on the executive board of the Greater San Diego Mathematics Council as the Vice President of Membership.  She is proud to be the founder and leader of the GEMS (Girls Excelling in Math and Science) Club, which serves 3rd-8th grade students at her school site.  Jenn received her M.Ed. with an elementary mathematics emphasis certificate from UC San Diego.
