Focus:  Special Education

  • Rachel is passionate about her work in the field of Special Education and working towards inclusive practices for all learners. In her free time she enjoys traveling, spending time at the beach, baking, and reading.

  • Rachel has worked in Special Education for 22 years both as a classroom teacher and administrator helping districts build programs and services for students with disabilities.

  • Rachel attended the University of San Diego where she completed both undergraduate and graduate degrees  in Special Education. She spent 15 years as a Special Education teacher developing specialized instructional programs for students with disabilities, working with site teams to bring inclusive practices to school settings, and designing  professional development models to affect the capacity of educators to support students with disabilities across instructional settings. Rachel went on to pursue a second Masters Degree in Educational Leadership and began working as a district administrator supporting all aspects of Special Education within her school district. Rachel currently serves as a Principal in a public school district in San Diego where she continues  her work towards equity for learners with disabilities in the public school system. Rachel’s goal is to empower  students to thrive in life through engaging curriculum, individualized learning, and collaborative processes designed to ensure  critical access to their communities; contributing to an enriched quality of life for all students throughout their education and beyond.
